Maarten Vos & JiSoo Park

Strandbühne / beach stage

Ji Soo Park is an artist hailing from South Korea where she studied classical music. In 2012 she moved to Japan, in search for new challenges, and soon found a space in Tokyo´s vibrant techno scene. After her debut gig at WOMB in Shibuya, she also started to host the renowned Profound Mind night, where she also got to play along a range of other forward-thinking techno DJs.

After almost two years of successful events Ji Soo moved to Berlin where she really feels at home, being in close contact with like-minded people who resist existing conventions and norms, where she seeks the freedom she has been searching for since her childhood. Ji Soo’s atypical and anomalous music will continue to be developed here.

Maarten Vos is a Dutch cellist, composer and producer based in Berlin. He focuses his work on the creation of composing modern classical and electronic music where he transforms traditional instrumentation into newfangled sounds with an exploratory approach to the cello combined with modular synthesizers and other electronic instruments.
Vos played at various places around the world such as Le Guess Who?, MUTEK, Rewire, Sonar, Contact Tokyo, Funkhaus Berlin, Amsterdam Dance Event, Cryptic Glasgow, Lowlands and was artist in Residence at MONOM/Funkhaus in Berlin and Theatre de Chaillot in Paris.

Besides his solo career he collaborates with Julianna Barwick, Nicolas Godin (AIR), Colin Benders, Joep Beving, Jisoo Park, fashion designer Iris van Herpen, digital/visual artists Maotik and Christopher Bauder.

Vos makes music for film, ballet and collaborates in technology with spatial sound company 4DSOUND, creative-instrument company Slate + Ash and more. He produced and mixed albums for various artists on labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Universal and 1631 Records.

Together they are two musicians with a taste for contemporary electronic and classical music who began experimenting with their machines in 2022 with hour-long techno improvisations in the studio. The results are organically created sounds with the Buchla, and their modular and various drum synthesisers, coming out as techno. Their Superbooth gig on Saturday, 14th of May, will be their first live performance together.
