Jessica Kert + Cinema AV
Presenting an audiovisuel re-imagination of the (mid 20th century) European liberation and reflections of past social movements floating along cathode ray beams, juxtaposed with contemporary instrumentation
Jessica Kert is a modular synth connoisseur who’s become known across the globe in recent years for her intricate, psychedelia infused, murky Techno style which has found a home on imprints such as Detroit Underground, Atmophile Electronics and Associated Paraboloid. On top of her regular work at Berlin synth haven SchneidersLaden. Jessica also does many workshops exclusively for the women, trans, inter & nonbinary community.
What began as a love of photography, cinema, and found footage evolved in 2015 when Evan Henry discovered video circuit-bending and obsolete electronics. From the start, live performance was the goal—using tachyon boxes, VCRs, mixers, and later a standalone video synthesizer with custom expanders, followed by LZX DIY eurorack modules, blending analog, digital, and oscillographic processes.
Video art soon became a way of life. Focused on live work, he performs regularly with local and touring artists. In 2018, Henry toured the East Coast and Canada with Steve Hauschildt (Ghostly Intl.), and in 2019 became resident visual artist for Proton Limited in Dallas. In 2021, he expanded to Europe, especially Berlin.
His work spans instant and 35mm film, with exhibitions in North Texas, Europe, and the UK. He also writes and builds video electronics. Recently, his practice has increasingly moved into digital environments using Resolume Arena and Max/MSP.
