Ana Rita a.k.a. Ana Ritovski + Robin Burke
Ana Rita, also known as Ana Ritovski, is a visual artist based in Berlin. Her artistic practice is interdisciplinary, incorporating various media such as video, drawing, photography, installation, sound, and performance.
Ana Rita is also passionate about drawing and creating live digital drawing animations. One of her favorite areas of urban research is the electronic music scene. In this context, she explores not only new ways to experience sound and frequencies but also new forms of social entanglements. Her drawings are mostly abstract creating macro and micro visions of natural organic forms and environments influenced by sound and movement.
Ritovski creates audiovisual works in collaboration with DJs and experimental music makers, using real-time digital drawing to create live interactions through color, light, and movement in response to sound experiences.
Robin Burke is an Irish musician and has lived in Berlin for a long time. He creates sounds/music usually with a modular synthesizer, but also uses drone boxes with effects and plays bass guitar. He often creates dark ambient atmospheres ranging from harmonic to dissonant soundscapes reminiscent of a slow-motion catastrophe, be it in the style of a menacing soundtrack reminiscent of a distopian horror movie, or something closer to our common experiences, this actual world's horrors and traumas.
All this is in stark contrast to the positive and optimistic character of its creator. The experience of intense sub-bass waveforms resonating through the performer and his audience is a catharsis, a release from tensions that often characterises and defines our daily existence in the first world.
