Teichmann und Söhne
Uli Teichmann and his sons Andi and Hannes form Teichmann + Söhne are an unconventional family trio that bridges generations, musical traditions and sound worlds. They explore and share sonic spaces with playfulness, curiosity, and openness. While Uli improvises on saxophone, clarinet, flute and percussion, his sons respond with live sampling, merging acoustic sounds with live electronic responses.
As a teenager in post-war Germany, Uli discovered jazz through U.S. soldiers and later became part of Munich’s experimental scene. From 1979 to 1983, the Teichmann parents ran Jazzclub Kneiting, a hub for avant-garde and global music, near Regensburg, which shaped Andi and Hannes’ early musical experiences.
The brothers began their journey in the punk band Totalschaden before being drawn into Berlin’s 1990s club scene, where electronic music and social experimentation flourished. This spirit informs their international soundcamps and cross-genre collaborations.
Since their debut as a trio in 2012 at the legendary Miss Hecker in Berlin, they family Trio performed regulary. Their 2023 album Flows (Altin Village & Mine) captures their multi-generational, genre-bending sound.
