Tunegirl x Colin Benders

Strandbühne

Tunegirl and Colin Benders join forces on stage to close out the 10-year anniversary. Both hardly need any intruduction at all....but here you go just in case....

TuneGirl dreamed of making music from a young age. She started as a guitarist in school bands, playing hard rock and later her own songs, and in the ’80s she discovered funk, soul, and synth-pop. As a DJ in a small local disco, she got her first hands-on experience with synthesizers and developed a deep love for electronic sounds.

In the ’90s, she discovered techno artists like Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, and Richie Hawtin. Inspired by minimalist drum-machine sounds and innovative rhythms, she built her first electronic setup. In 1999, she took a long break from music, returning in 2009 to experiment with computers and software—but quickly realized that jamming with hardware was her true calling.

Eventually, she discovered Eurorack systems and modular synthesizers. After a steep learning curve and plenty of trial and error, she found her ideal instrument. Today, TuneGirl delivers uncompromising, improvised techno between Detroit, Acid, and Minimal—performed live straight from her modular system.

Few artists embody musical freedom like Colin Benders. A classically trained musician turned modular-synth visionary, he first gained prominence as Kyteman, leading The Kyteman Orchestra—a bold fusion of rap, jazz, and classical instrumentation. That project established him as a fearless creative mind, and over time his curiosity and desire for reinvention led him to the modular synthesizer, a limitless electronic ecosystem where improvisation and emotional expression merge.

Today, Colin creates hypnotic, improvised techno directly from his modular system. Every performance is unique, unplanned, and alive with energy—lean, primal, and rhythm-driven. His sets are less about melody and spectacle, more about urgency, release, and connection, turning each show into a dynamic conversation between instinct and circuitry. The music exists only in the moment, leaving audiences fully immersed in an ephemeral, collective experience.

Constantly refining his craft, Colin is rebuilding his modular system and entering a new phase of life as a parent, while expanding his global reach with performances across Europe, South America, and beyond. Raw, fearless, and impossible to imitate, he stands as one of electronic music’s most singular performers—proof that true improvisation still moves bodies, evokes deep emotion, and taps directly into the human experience.
