Flinta*Area
At SB26, the FLINTA* Exhibition Area made its debut. Exhibiting companies were invited to provide demo equipment that FLINTA* visitors could freely play, explore, and experiment with. Following the positive response last year, we are excited to continue developing the FLINTA* Exhibition Area.
FLINTA* is a German acronym that stands for women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender people. The asterisk (*) serves as an open placeholder intended to include additional gender identities and people who do not fit neatly into these categories.
This area is exclusively for people who identify as FLINTA*. Its purpose is not separation, but the creation of a supportive and relaxed environment where participants can build confidence, exchange knowledge, and engage with technology without pressure. Inclusion does not happen automatically; it requires active effort and concrete measures.
The FLINTA* Exhibition Area is a natural progression of our annual SUPERBOOTH FLINTA* Workshops and an important step toward fostering confidence, participation, and visibility. Our goal is for inclusion to take place throughout the trade fair — in the busy exhibition halls, workshop spaces, and on the stages — rather than being limited to dedicated programs. At the same time, we recognize that representation and diversity within the electronic music and music technology communities, as well as at SUPERBOOTH itself, still have significant room for improvement.
The space is supervised by experienced, independent staff who help create a welcoming atmosphere free from pressure or intimidation. This year, our beginner and intermediate FLINTA* workshops, previously held in the Puppenbühne and Workshop Room, will also take place within the lounge.
Our long-term goal is to empower FLINTA* people to participate fully and confidently in every aspect of SUPERBOOTH — both today and in the future.
